John Godber headlines an engaging and entertaining evening of readings and conversation with a trio of highly acclaimed writers who are either from, or influenced by, Northern England, as they talk about their relationship with the north and how it has shaped their work and careers.

John is an internationally renowned dramatist, winning numerous awards for his observational comedies including a Lawrence Olivier Award and seven Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards, as well as two BAFTA’s for his television work. John is the third most performed playwright in the UK behind William Shakespeare and Alan Ayckbourn, with plays including Bouncers, Teechers, Up ‘n’ Under, April in Paris and September in the Rain.

Helen Cross’ first novel, My Summer of Love, won the Betty Trask Award in 2002 and became a BAFTA Award winning feature film. 

Peter Sansom is a poet whose books include On the Pennine Way and Everything You’ve Heard is True. Part of Northern Accent, a new series of literature events across Yorkshire’s Small Venue Network.
