Presented by York Shakespeare Project

“O brave new world that has such people in’t!”

On an island an unusual collection of people are thrown together by a storm. Old injuries must be resolved, a new generation makes new plans, and everyone is driven to find something of themselves in a disrupted world. But only the island truly understands…

York Shakespeare Project’s final performances of Shakespeare’s powerful last play, The Tempest, bring their two-decade mission of performing all of his plays to an end. The island setting comes to life through communal storytelling in a new interpretation that captures the play’s themes of colonisation, reconciliation and change, and which harnesses all the experience of the company’s 20 years of performing Shakespeare.
