One of the top comedy club nights in the country, The Comedy Network, is coming to Selby for the first time!

Each event will feature a compere, support act and headliner for the bargain introductory price of just £10.

Delivering the best new talent in the UK, The Comedy Network gives you the chance to see tomorrow’s arena fillers today. Over the years the club has played host to the likes of Russell Howard, John Oliver, Harry Hill, Bill Bailey, Lee Mack, Stewart Lee, Greg Davies, Al Murray, Noel Fielding, Ross Noble, Chris Ramsey, Roisin Conaty, Joe Wilkinson, Richard Herring, Dave Gorman, Jenny Eclair and many more.

Headliner – Tez Ilyas

Tez Ilyas is one of the most celebrated stars in British comedy.

In 2015 Ilyas achieved phenomenal success with his debut stand up hour TEZ Talks. A sell out run at the Soho Theatre and his own Radio 4 series based on the show followed, with a second series quickly being recommissioned. In 2016 his highly anticipated follow up show Made in Britain went on to sell out every single performance (including extra shows) at the Edinburgh Fringe and gained spectacular critical acclaim, with a smash hit nationwide tour in 2017. His third show Teztify once again delivered a spectacularly powerful, provocative and brilliantly funny hour of topical stand up, delivering to packed out audiences night after night.

Tez has appeared on Live at The Apollo (BBC Two), The Last Leg (C4), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Live From the BBC (BBC Two), The Chris Ramsey Show (Comedy Central), Man Like Mobeen (BBC Three), Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Kevin Hart’s Live from Montreal (LOL Network), Virtually Famous (E4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), The Rob Rinder Verdict (C4) and The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (C4), Celebrity Supply Teacher (CBBC).

Tez’ Channel 4 comedy Blap Bounty is the most watched show in the strand’s 10 year history. In 2019 he fronted his own Channel 4 satirical sketch series The Tez O’Clock Show to huge critical acclaim.

Support – Lovell Smith

Lovell is fast becoming one of the hottest new acts on the comedy scene with his fresh and unique approach on observations on life as a millennial, covering everything from dating disasters to the banality of working life in the 21st century.

Ex-champion bodybuilder Lovell started comedy mid 2019, after deciding modeling on that type of stage wasn’t the right platform moving forward. He won the Midlands Best New Act award after just a few months of gigging, joining previous winners Joe Lycett and Darren Harriot, and has supported Nathan Caton and Daliso Chaponda on tour.

“He’s got charisma, charm, confidence and quality jokes. A great formula. He’s the future.” – Nathan Caton

Comepere – Aaron Twitchen

Aaron has been making a name for himself in recent years. He is a stand-up comedian, actor and fantastically also a trained circus performer.

He’s a regular on the circuit working for many of the biggest promoters and is a warm, friendly and confident MC.

His ongoing solo show “Can’t Stop A Rainbow” made a mark the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 with his own brand of intelligent, bubbly and frank stand-up.

Aaron runs his own podcast, A Matter of Pride, ‘a comedy education of gay history’. Recently Aaron has featured in Darren Harriot’s BBC Radio 4 Stand Up Podcast Red Label. He is also filming for an upcoming series with Pulped.

“Seriously talented. Hilarious, warm, energetic… the kind of new act that should have talent scouts excited and other comedians feeling nervous.” – The Skinny
“Positive, fun, feel-good… Probably the best free fringe show I’ve seen” – Scotsgay
“Twitchen is an assured stand-up and navigates both his material and his venue with style…He is a flexible improviser, in tune with the spirit of live comedy” – Broadway Baby
