‘Don’t Cry for me Kenny Dalglish’ is a show written, directed and performed by Andrew Macmillen. The production is based on his memories of the 1978 World Cup and seven years living in Argentina. It explores questions of identity by tracing the story of Danny McLure, from his childhood as a football fanatic to a middle-aged man reflecting on his experiences following Scotland at the 1978 World Cup and serving as a soldier during the Falklands War. This Edinburgh Fringe hit show is a heartfelt mix of politics, sport and romance.
“A very moving and deep story about football, friendship, human rights & equality, David Bowie and love. A must-see performance with real genuine storytelling and a human touch. Highly recommended.”
